Gender Inequality

 

 

 

In the presentations we had in class my group got to learn about climate change and gender inequality in the United States and other countries. Our presentation was about infrastructure and how we as a country are ranked. We also cover on how infrastructure can improve our own lives. We all should know what is going on in this country and all over the world and how things work. It’ll help us have a better understanding of these things and can be useful in the future. The first presentation was about Inequality. We have inequality all over the world including this country. In sports it has been a complete mess and in our daily lives as well. It started off as which bathroom people should use and now it’s destroying sports in the United States.

Gender Inequality in sports has been a problem in the United States. In sports, men make more than women in the United States from soccer, baseball and other sports. More fans go to men’s game than women as well. Most people watch the NBA while others just watch WNBA. There was a point that women were not allowed to be in war and now we have women fighting to protect this country. Back then was extremely hard for women to make money because they got paid extremely low. As we all know WNBA starters get paid just as much as an NBA bench player. Most NBA players get paid millions of dollars, and some WNBA players don’t hit the millions yet. The presentation opened my eyes a little bit because women today still don’t get paid as much as men today. As a man I do not experience these things today. A lot of men in this class can also agree with me. The United States women’s soccer team for example has been fighting for equal pay and I believe they should get equal pay. There is a lot of sexual assault in the United States that women are victims of. It’s extremely sad that they are men like this because men are supposed to protect women. The LGBT community has also faced gender inequality all over the world. If you are gay in Iraq, they will kill you with stones. This is sadly a fight for gender equality that will go on forever because we have some horrible people in this world. In other countries women are not allowed to have an education and they are supposed to be stay home moms.

 

Climate change has been an argument for a few years now. We need to keep this world clean so it doesn’t become a complete dump because there’s only one Earth and we will not get a second chance. The presentation talks about ways we should keep the world clean. There have been young people fighting for climate change. It became extremely political, and it divided the country completely. Burning fossil fuels helps us create energy for transportation like cars and planes. Cutting down trees causes climate change. When fossil fuels are burning it releases large amounts of carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse, gas in the air. Greenhouse gases trap heat into the atmosphere making it hotter and hotter every year which causes global warming. Icebergs are melting which will increase the ocean sea level. Oceans are the main reason the earth isn’t extremely hot but if these icebergs melt the ocean levels will rise. Since this class lives in Florida, we should be concerned about the sea level because we are a peninsula. There have been scientists who have said that Florida will be underwater again. Climate change is extremely important because it will affect animals we eat to survive. The temperatures will rise and lower many species survival rate. Because of the rates due to the changes that lead to less food. Pollinators are mostly feed from flowers that are blooming earlier throughout the years. Most animals will not find other habitats and no longer able to support their biology. Fish will swim in colder waters once the ocean starts to heat up. The United States climate disasters and it’s costing 1 billion dollars each.

 

Now to my group did our presentation on infrastructure. Infrastructure helps built roads, school and sidewalks. In the United States we are ranked horribly in infrastructure and other countries have way better than us. Housing development is extremely important because no one wants their house to basically fly away. There was a point where roads are completely trashed because we haven’t kept up with the roads and buildings are breaking down. One example is the FIU bridge which killed a few people. Another example is the apartment building in Miami Beach. I know the kid who survived that building collapse and he is completely traumatize due to the lack of infrastructure. Joe Biden has a trillion-dollar plan that will cover some of our problems in this country. Miami is extremely overpopulated, and the lack of infrastructure is making traffic horrible. Everyday on I-75 and I-95 there is always traffic. If we have more transits, there would not be a lot of traffic, and no one will be late to work or school. If we fix these issues, there will be no danger. We will have less accidents and less traffic as well. Our buildings are not the best either there has been so many buildings collapsing, and nothing is being done to fix our infrastructure. The plan will be used by the left over covid money, and the United States will build 20,000 roads and 10 important bridges. Funding small businesses need to fund too because our small businesses matter too. Ever since the pandemic happened a lot of small businesses had to be shut out business or closed for that period of time.
